Medical issues: Do you have existing conditions or treatments first responders need to know about?

Elderly residents: Do you have elderly occupants in your house needing special help in an emergency? Can firefighters find them?

Children: Can firefighters find infants? Do other children know the escape plan? Are the children trained in the proper use of 911 emergency calls?

In case of medical emergency, it is very helpful if you have a brief medical history including current medications and doses which you can copy and give to first responders. It is helpful to place this in an obvious location so it can be located if you cannot retrieve it yourself. For example, place it in an envelope labelled "For Medical Emergency" and place it on your refrigerator or next to your phone. Download a form for this. This form is available from Leon Springs VFD responders also.

If you use a cell phone, explore the program offered at myrapidmedic.com. This places a medical history written by you on your phone where first responders can easily locate it. There is also a wallet card with an ID number and a phone number where first responders can get the information if your phone can't be located.
